As a former soldier myself, I was angered to learn, through the Northern Echo, that one of our local pubs operated a ban on servicemen and women after certain hours.  Many of those barred from entry will either have served in or be preparing for deployment to Afghanistan later this year.  Many may be serving there right now.  Surely this is a time to lend these brave souls our unqualified support not turn our backs on them.
