
Edward was joined by William Hague in talks with the airport’s owners aimed at exploring options for the restoration of a London airlink.
Edward says:
"Despite publicly pledging their support for the airport over a year ago, local Labour politicians have done nothing to safeguard its future. Yet again the Labour Party talk about the importance of the North East region, but their words are not backed up by action.
The key to Darlington's economic future lies, as it always has done, with excellent transport links. Darlington pioneered the railways in the 19th Century. It must not be left behind in the 21st. A London airlink is crucial to Darlington's economic future and that's why I'll continue to fight for it."
